Hey Everybody!

Can you believe its only 11 days until Christmas!! Where has December gone??

If you are anything like me, I plan out in October who I want to get presents for and what I want to get them, but then I don't end up getting their presents until a week before Christmas. And unfortunately, it's things like waiting last minute to get gifts that make Christmas one of the most stressful times of the year. Personally, I have been pretty stressed out lately with all my school work, and tonnes of Christmas events every weekend. I have really had to take a step back from all the chaos and take time each day to reflect why we really celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is supposed to be the happiest time of the year, celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Who was born in a manger in Bethlehem thousands of years ago. He lived on the earth just like us, and died so that we can live in heaven with Him.

So, in the midst of all the fun activities and celebrating, it is really important to set apart some quiet time for yourself, and embrace the holidays! In case the stress is getting to you, here are some of my favourite tips on getting better sleep <3

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Rebecca xx

  • Turn off all screen devices 2 hours prior to bedtime.

When I was first told this information, I couldn't believe that it takes your body a long time to prepare to go to sleep! But I have been trying to not use my phone or iPad any later than 7:30 to ensure my brain is relaxed.

  • Stick to a routine.

Try and go to bed at the same time and wake up around the same time everyday. This will help your body fall asleep faster, and wake up easier in the mornings.

  • If you have been tossing and turning for more than 20 minutes, get up and do something relaxing or boring, until you feel sleepy. Read a happy book, or practice yoga. Try to avoid going on your phone, because the stimulation will only make you more awake.

  • Keep your bedroom for sleeping, getting ready in the morning, and sickness.

Bring stress-related activities, like work or homework will make your room more of a place for working, than relaxing.

  • Try drinking tea or taking a bath to be relaxed before bed

Teas such as chamomile or peppermint are great to help soothe your mind before bed. Just make sure they do not contain any caffeine! As well, a warm bath with some lavender bubble bath will be sure to put you to sleep. You can drop in a relaxing bath bomb to release any tension and soothe your muscles.
